Yellowing from the bottom up

Older, lower leaves turn pale yellow first as the plant relocates mobile nitrogen to new growth — a classic diagnostic sign.

Stunted, thin growth

Without nitrogen, cell division slows — plants stay short with thin stems and small leaves.

Reduced tillering & branching

Cereal crops produce fewer tillers; other crops show reduced lateral branching and lower yield potential.

Pale green overall colour
